Magazine Analysis

This magazine uses common conventions to make it stand out and be effective. It features infomation on the artist/band including their name, the album name and the release date so that audiences can be aware of the vital information in order to for them to want purchase the album. All of these need to feature for it to be a success and for the band/artist to become well known. The style and use of effects is very individual letting it stand out from other adverts, such as black and white colours (This also helps the yellow '5 star' ratings stand out) and unorthodox images edited into the photo such as the spiderman mask. this alows comsumers to get up to date. 'The Star Persona' technique in this photo is very different to most; the characters have replaced their own faces with other famous fictional character's faces, this could be to attract audiences attention, hide their own faces or even use the fictional characters to represent their own persona's indivually. The 'Parental Advisory' at the bottom left of the photo shows that the content is rather explicit, meaning it would appeal to adults and teenagers a lot more than children, this narrows down the audience but also attracts adults further. The composition of the photo also helps to seperate the characters into a hierarchy order, leaving some characters higher than others and some characters closer to the camera than others.

This advert has inspired us to use in our own work, using different factors from various adverts to make a perefect advert from our video.

The compostion of this cover is uncommon with no star persona, although the graffiti and run down area shows a urban/street culture. This reaches out to the target audience being (teenagers).  This magazine also features the record lable that it is part of, universal studios. With universal being a very well established lable it shows that this band/artist is more likely to be a success. It also shows that because it is a part of universal that it will be broadcasted to the mass market. This magazine also features a review from Metro and Jonathan Ross which would appeal to their fan base. It also features the release date of the album as well as a retailer name such as Amazon making it simple for audiences to purchase. There is also a link to the band's official website at the bottom of the photo, making it possible for fans to follow up on the band and find more music, events, videos and pictures etc.
